Activities:
- The Department of Botany, St. Edmund's College, Shillong on the 24th of April, 2009 conducted a workshop for class X students of a few selected schools on "Fundamental Processes of Living Plants". This workshop was undertaken with the objective of imparting in school children an awareness of the basic processes of plants. The workshop was organized with the financial assistance from Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi, India, under the Star College Programme (SCP). The purpose of the workshop was to instill in the children an interest in life sciences and to induce in them the passion to later pursue a career in life science.
- Every year, there is an annual study tour for students of life science conducted by the Botany Dept. to places of botanical and ecological interests within and outside the State. In this perspective, the Botany Dept. conducted a study trip for the B.Sc. 2nd year students of life science on the 18th of October, 2008 to the "Swer Sacred Grove", situated in Swer village 32 km South-West from Shillong to study the undisturbed vegetation and biodiversity of that area.
