A Strange Object In St. Edmund's College
On 27th September 2011, a piece of heavy metal weighing
about 20 to 25 kilograms was found in the campus of St.
Edmund's college in front of the Rector's Office. According
to Badri Singh the gardener of the college first saw a small
piece of metal protruding out of the mud near the hedge
on 24th September 2011 and did not care much. It was also
noticed that a lot of branches were broken and scattered
around the Rector's Office. Badri Singh thinking that it
was only a small piece of metal tried to take it out but
discovered that it had gone deep inside about 2 feet deep.
He eventually managed to take it out and found it to be
heavy. The Principal, Dr. Sylvanus Lamare was informed and
when he studied the place he found that a number of branches
were broken and a mark was left on the bark of the tree
and also a neat cut on the hedge. It was concluded that
the object must have fallen from the sky at high speed and
went deep inside. Dr. Lamare, informed the ISRO, NE-SAC
and the Director deputed two scientists; he also informed
Mr. J. Lyngdoh, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills who
sent the Police team to do the verification along with a
team of experts. The object was taken to Laitumkhrah Police
Station for further inquiry. The media also rushed to take
video clips and interviewed Badri Singh. Till now it is
still a mystery and we hope to get a clearer picture soon.
