Career Counseling & Guidance cum Placement Cell
Introduction
The idea of a counseling cell was conceived by the principal Bro E. V. Miranda in the year 2002, and informally the work was carried out by Mr. G. Deb from Commerce Department. During those days the following activities were carried out:
Career related information relating to fields like Chartered Accountants (CA), Master of Business Applications (MBA), Institute of Cost and Works Accountant (ICWA), Company Secretary (CS) etc. Were collected from various sources like Employment News, other news papers and journals, and shared with the students.
The cell used to coordinate placement related activities conducted by organizations that used to voluntarily visit the campus for recruitment purpose.
In the year 2004 when Bro. L.D. Lobo was the principal, the college started formally a full fledged counseling and placement cell with the assistance of Mr. G. Deb (Lecturer in the Commerce Dept.) and Mr. Binayak Dutta (Ex-Lecturer in the History Dept.). Since then, the placement cell has had its own office. In the year 2006, Mr. Hiten Choudhury (Lecturer, Computer Science Dept.) joined the cell. Currently the Cell is coordinated by these two members of the staff along with a professional counselor, Ms. Joy Gonsalves, who joined in the year 2009.
Activities
The following are the main activities carried out by the Placement Cell:
Coordinates career counseling and placement related activities conducted by various organizations.
The Cell invites various service providers like IT companies, prominent BPOs, Banks, Universities, Aviation Industry, Management Institutes etc., to conduct Recruitment drives, seminars and presentations on the jobs and career opportunities available for students.
Corresponds with various organizations, and provides them with support and facilities required to carry out various career guidance and placement related programmes. All the correspondence are done through our official email address: sec.placementcell@gmail.com and sec_placementcell@bsnl.in

For smooth flow of information related to the various activities like counseling programmes, seminars etc. to the students, the cell makes use of its own notice board as well as the students' notice board. For the same purpose it also contains a committee involving at least one member from every department. Information related to the activities of the cell are also passed to the students to their respective Departments through these members.
